Somatic mindfulness exercise: breathing with the trees
Video by Rob VanAlkemade / Medicinal Media.
Breathing with the trees was the first in our series of somatic mindfulness videos for all ages, hosted by kids from around the world. This video, developed with our creative director Jennymarie Jemison, was inspired by the article “Rooted: a case for spending time with trees, even if virtually" and narrated by seven-year-old Rudy of Los Angeles, whose favorite trees are the palo verde he climbs most afternoons, and the carrotwood that hosted two broods of doves this spring.
In this short grounding exercise, you will spend some time with the trees and your breath.
The roots of the tree keep it grounded even in the strongest storms. Think about your roots. What makes you feel strong and grounded in your life?
